From Factory Closure to Greenfield Success: Optimizing Production Footprint

VIDEOTON successfully took over the customer’s full production after the closure of its Spanish factory, transferring assembly, injection molding, and warehousing operations. Through a greenfield investment, a dedicated production hall was built and optimized to accommodate the entire process within a significantly smaller footprint.

  • Driver: Factory closure transition
  • Member company: VT Elektro-PLAST Kft., Hungary
  • Country of origin: Spain
  • Production Area: 4000 sqm in total
  • Direct headcount: 100+
  • Suppliers / PNs taken over: 40 / 300
  • Product Variants: 40
  • Transfer time: 1,5 years

Background of the transfer project

The customer closed its Spanish factory and needed a contract manufacturer to take over the entire production, including assembly and injection molding operations. The transfer involved large-scale injection molding lines, assembly lines, warehousing, and an injection molding shop with 20 machines.

VIDEOTON's solution

In 2006, we built a fully dedicated production hall as a greenfield investment. Although its footprint was only half the size of the transferred operations, all processes were successfully downsized to fit the available space. As part of the transfer, we took over the tools and injection molding machines and relocated the full assembly and molding operations.
