Hilase

Hilase Kft. - founded in 2004 - is specialized in developing, prototyping and producing instruments for measuring the concentration of gases or aerosols in various applications based on the photoacoustic detection principle. It is a spin-off company of the University of Szeged, and belongs to the Videoton Group.

General overview

After successful development and commercialization of an instrument family for the oil and natural gas industry, Hobré Instruments BV (The Netherlands) acquired the right of production of the Hilase instruments for this market segment in 2013.

All Hilase instruments have short response time, high sensitivity, excellent selectivity and capable of continuous and fully automatic operation. The expected trouble free operational lifetime of these instruments exceeds ten years.

Currently Hilase is developing instruments for the following application areas:

  • Aircraft instruments for airborne measurement of atmospheric humidity and total water concentration for meteorology, climate research and aviation safety
  • Multi-wavelength instruments for apportionment of the sources of atmospheric aerosol, especially those generated by traffic or biomass burning
  • High accuracy and fast determination of the gas permeability parameters (solubility, diffusivity and permeability) of polymer, plastic or rubber samples at various temperatures and pressures. Permeation of various gases and gas mixtures can be measured including water vapour (H2O), methane (CH4), hydrogen-sulphide (H2S), HCl, CO2, etc.

Furthermore Hilase continuously seeks for additional application areas in which the uniquely advantageous properties of the photoacoustic method can be utilized.
