Beyond Electronics: Box Build Assembly At VIDEOTON Group
VIDEOTON’s manufacturing activities extend well beyond PCBA production. Box build assembly is available across our manufacturing sites in Hungary, Germany, Bulgaria and USA, covering products with different levels of electronic, mechanical and electromechanical content – from relatively straightforward assemblies to complex finished products.
Depending on the project, the scope can include manual, semi-automated or automated assembly, mounting, screwing, wiring, soldering and welding, complemented by functional testing, calibration, traceability, customization, labelling and final packaging. This flexibility enables VIDEOTON to support different production volumes and levels of complexity.
A key strength behind these capabilities is the Group’s vertical integration. In a typical project, components can be manufactured by one or more VIDEOTON member companies and then supplied internally to another Group company responsible for final assembly. Depending on the product, this can bring together PCBA production, plastic injection moulding, sheet metal fabrication, machining and assembly within the same manufacturing network.
This model can replace several external suppliers with internal capabilities, resulting in a simpler supply chain for the customer while maintaining one contracting party and a single point of contact. At the same time, vertical integration is applied selectively: make-or-buy decisions are made project by project to create the most competitive manufacturing setup.
Battery Assembly - Another Dimension Of Box Build
Beyond conventional product assembly, VIDEOTON also has extensive battery assembly capabilities at VT Elektro-PLAST. Its portfolio ranges from individual cells to complete battery packs using Li-ion, Ni-MH and Li-metal technologies for applications including power tools, automotive products, e-bikes, healthcare and industrial equipment.
Manufacturing processes include cell welding (resistance, laser), soldering, potting, assembly, charging, testing and packaging, while plastic injection moulding can also be integrated into the production process. Within a typical year, the battery business delivers about 40 million products using more than 60 million battery cells.
Whether a project starts with electronics, mechanical components, plastics or an existing product ready for transfer, VIDEOTON’s box build capabilities provide a flexible route towards tested, finished products manufactured in Hungary.
