Videoton acquired the majority ownership of STS Group ZRt.
As a part of its diversification strategy Videoton acquired 51% majority ownership in STS Group ZRt. located in Győr.
Videoton made its first step in the field of energetics, which is one of its targeted new market segments, by investing in STS Group, a company operating as a prime contractor and an engineering office in several fields of alternative energy, owned by Hungarian private persons. The annual turnover of STS Group in 2009 was around 5.5 billion HUF mainly by planning, operating and implementing wind-, biogas-, and bioposh power-stations. The company group plans further involvement in alternative energy industry.
Videoton group -due to its free resources coming from its financial position which is stronger than the average - plans further acquisions in others fields too, which may ensure further stable growth to the company group.

Videoton is the 23rd most cosiderable EMS company in the world
Videoton, as the largest industrial company group in Hungarian private ownership, ranked 23rd based on the year 2009 figures according to the most up-to-date world rank list published in the U.S. newsletter: MMI. At the same time Videoton Holding Zrt is in the 3rd place among the European EMS companies. (Last year Videoton was 25th worldwide and 5th in Europe.) The list ranks the 50 largest contract electronics manufacturing companies based on turnover.
In spite of the crisis Videoton keeps, moreover, improves its position. The company could change and adapt itself successfully to the turns in the global market.
This is supported by the fact that in the past 5-10 years projects giving substantial part of the company's turnover ceased because whole industries left Europe for the Far East, mainly China.
Videoton however succeeded to replace the earlier large (million pieces) series production of consumer electronics, computer products and sub-assemblies by smaller series but higher diversity, more complex, technically and quality-wise higher standard car industry and industrial electronics businesses.
In the meantime Videoton has become a major player also in the field of household appliances (irons, kitchen utensils, vacuum cleaners, etc.)
The company continued its regional expansion started by the privatisation in Bulgaria in 1999 with the establishment of a new company and start of production in Ukraine in 2009. Thus the company group may go for winning new businesses which could not be feasibly accomplished at the Hungarian cost-level.

VT Metal started year 2010 with a new business
The German Moeller and the Videoton company located in Székesfehérvár succeeded to conclude a new business. The Videoton subsidiary dealing with sheet metal processing and surface treatment will supply electric conductor parts and their accessories to the German factory of its new partner. The machined parts are built into high current NZM circuit breakers. To be able to accomplish the project the Videoton company invested in a new Brother TC32 BN-QT machining center.
VT Metal - having 50 years tradition in aluminium and copper treatment - produces mainly mid and large series. The company producing primarily to the automotive industry strengthened its position in the field of industrial applications. www.metal.videoton.hu

Tens of millions (HUF) invested in Videoton's tool manufacturing company
VT Precision Ltd. located in Székesfehérvár invested in a surface grinding machine (for grinding tool elements and plates) and in new design softwares (Nx7 and PowerMill2010 (CAD, CAM) via its successful GOP tender. Furthermore the company - together with VT Elektro-Plast and VT Plastic Ltd. - also bought a finite element analysis software (Moldex3D) for the computer simulation of plastic injection moulding.
Due to the investments accomplished in the past years, VT Precision Ltd. owns the most up to date softwares, production equipment and measurement devices available today.
Beyond that VT Precision Ltd. implemented also a high-power laser welding machine (Alphalaser AL-20) - only two of such a machine are available in Hungary.
Videoton Precision Ltd. takes care of the design and production of more than 100 moulding, cutting and bending tools for the automotive and household electronics industry each year. Further expanding co-operation with Philips
Philips counts more and more not only on the production service but also on the design and engineering capabilities provided by Videoton Elektro-Plast Kft, a Videoton company dealing with plastic injection moulding and final assembly. The production of the Robust Food Processor - targeting the highest end market of household appliance products - was also started in Kaposvár as such a joint product development project.
The factory located in Kaposvár started the serial production of a new type (Delta) also in the frame of the wellness projects won more than a year ago.
Parallel to this, the implementation of the new model of a mixer and a food processor is in process at the Videoton company which has been a strategic partner to Philips for more than 10 years now.
As a result of the new projects won by the company, Videoton Elektro-Plast - having nearly 10 years experience in the production of small household appliances - expects increase both in the turnover and in the employment in spite of the crisis. The production of the new products required the restructuring of the project and the extension of the assembly area.
